President Katalin Novák Attends Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Hungarian President Katalin Novák traveled to London to attend the state funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Hungarian head of state wrote on Facebook on Sunday that she traveled to London with her husband to pay their respects “on behalf of the Hungarian people to Queen Elizabeth II at her coffin as she lies in state at Westminster Hall.”

“Albeit we have not met in person, I admired her for her courage, wisdom, and service to her nation. God rest her soul!”,

the President wrote.

“It was moving to join the people bidding a fond farewell to the Queen at the coffin of Elizabeth II,” Katalin Novák posted later on Sunday.

On September 8, Katalin Novák expressed her condolences to King Charles III. “It is with sadness and respect that we bid farewell to one of the most influential figures in 20th century British and European history. We Hungarians have learned much in standing up for nation and family from Queen Elizabeth II. We will cherish Her Majesty’s memory in our hearts,” she wrote.
