Viktor Orbán Praises Polish-Hungarian Brotherhood

Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán greeted his Polish counterpart Mateusz Morawiecki and the citizens of Poland in a letter on the occasion of the National Day of Poland, the prime minister’s press chief told Hungarian news agency MTI on Friday.

“The 11th of November is a special day, as it marks the fulfillment of the dream of creating a free and sovereign country. On this day, we Hungarians pay tribute to the self-sacrificing struggle of Polish patriots who fought for independence, and we see the restoration of the independence of the Polish state as the restoration of historical justice,” Viktor Orbán wrote.

According to the prime minister, the brotherhood between the Hungarian and Polish peoples is exemplary, based on shared historical experiences. He expressed his conviction that “the ties that bind us together are much stronger than the aspirations that seek to divide us.”

“We have always stepped forward together on the rugged road of history respecting and helping each other,” Justice Minister Judit Varga said at a celebration of Poland’s national day in Budapest on Thursday.
